Meet Efficient Plumber Dallas

Efficient plumber Dallas Kirk leaning on the door of his work van in Austin, TX.

Where are you from originally?
I was raised in San Diego, California.

What part of Austin do you live in?
I live in Round Rock. I am married, and we have 5 children between the ages of 10 and 16 in our blended family.

How long have you been working in the plumbing industry?
Just over 10 years now.

What got you into plumbing?
After working in other areas of construction, a family member convinced me to try it out because he needed help.

What is your approach to customer service?
As a guest in people’s homes, I strive to be polite, professional and informative to make the experience as pleasant as possible – even when they are having to deal with possibly unwanted or undesirable situations that can arise with plumbing problems. I want you to know and understand what I need to do – and why – so you are comfortable and confident in allowing me to perform the work.

What do you like about working at Efficient?
It’s a business that truly puts people first, both its employees and customers, and that’s a rare thing to find in the construction and service field.

What do you like most about plumbing?
No two jobs are exactly the same. Every day presents new challenges no matter how long you have done it, so it remains interesting. The learning never stops.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
My family and I love spending time outdoors. Geocaching is a hobby that takes us on great hikes to places we would never have found otherwise. I also play the guitar in my spare time.

Why should someone consider a career in plumbing/the trades?
The demand for skilled workers is only growing, and with demand comes opportunity. Consider the fact that you can be paid to learn skills that in a short time can provide a comfortable living, and you will have no loans to repay.

Favorite travel spot?
Where I spent my honeymoon: Playa Del Carmen, Mexico – south of Cancun.

Dream travel spot?
Either Alaska to see the northern lights or South America to see the bioluminescent shores. Both are on my bucket list!

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I am a big space/science enthusiast and would be happy just to sweep the floors at NASA and get to see what goes on behind the scenes.

What is the one non-living thing you would save from your house in the event of an emergency?
Photos! Recent ones are backed up digitally, but my actual printed photographs of family and friends are irreplaceable.

What is your favorite local place to eat?
Magnolia Cafe on South Congress is what comes to mind first, but I love a lot of small local eateries that have fresh farm-to-table ingredients.
