At Efficient, we’re passionate about giving back to greater Austin. As a team, we donate time and money to organizations that make a real difference in our community. In particular, we love contributing to groups that depend on volunteers because it means every dollar we give goes even further. Some of the organizations we support include:
Christi Center
Christi Center offers hope after the death of a loved one by providing support networks, community education and therapeutic activities that are free, peer-based and ongoing. It was started in 1987 by the family of Christi Lanahan, a UT Austin student and Westlake High School alumna who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 1985.
For many of us, loss is tied to mental health, which is arguably the most important form of health. While many psychological services offer help in these areas, costs can be high and require medical coverage and deductibles. The Christi Center is open to all in need – regardless of their ability to pay. Programs are available for ages 5 and up and are held at regular frequencies both in person and online. These programs reach thousands, and each dollar goes to serve many.
Foundation Communities
Foundation Communities currently operates 26 apartment communities in Austin that provide affordable, attractive housing to low-income families with children, and single adults, including veterans, seniors, individuals with disabilities and those who are aging out of foster care.
However, it’s not just a housing solution. We have also seen the success of their free on-site support services, which are focused on helping participants achieve educational milestones, financial stability and healthier lifestyles. Since 1990, the organization has improved the lives of more than 9,000 residents.
National Association of Women in Construction
As a woman-owned business with women in key leadership positions, Efficient proudly supports NAWIC. We are proof that women can and do succeed in the construction industry, one of the largest sectors of the economy. Austin’s chapter is one of the 115+ established nationwide since the organization was founded here in Texas in 1953. These chapters are volunteer-based and offer professional development, community service and mentoring opportunities. We appreciate NAWIC for continually keeping membership costs affordable for all.
Skillpoint Alliance
Skillpoint Alliance was founded in 1994 when Mayor Bruce Todd asked the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce to address the city’s lack of apprenticeship and craft training programs. Since then, Skillpoint has grown into the metro area’s leading provider of rapid workforce training.
The organization gives people a chance to transform their lives through rigorous skills-based training and education, in particular for HVAC, electrical, plumbing and manufacturing positions. Skillpoint offers intense full-time programs of reasonable length, and of equal importance, they provide financial solutions that enable each student to attend within their budget and emerge free of student loans. Graduates are able to secure great entry-level jobs with tremendous future growth opportunities – some of them with us at Efficient. Skillpoint’s efficient use of donations ensures that many are set on a path of life success.
In addition to the organizations listed here, Efficient supports other groups and efforts in Austin each year – often through requests from our team and members of our community. These causes include schools, resource drives or simply helping individuals in need. It is not just a holiday activity for us, but an ongoing commitment.
