Your central air conditioning system is no different than any other major machine. Just like your vehicle needs oil changes, new filters, service inspections and minor repairs over time, your air conditioner also needs a small amount of ongoing attention. That’s why we offer comprehensive AC maintenance in Austin – including tune-ups and preventative plans – to help you get the greatest comfort, efficiency and lifespan out of your system.
Tip | Frequency | Benefit |
Regularly check and change or clean air filters (check out our video below on how often you should change your air filters) | Generally every 1-3 months, depending on usage and filter type. Can be up to 12 months with large pleat filters and low to average particulate conditions. | Improves airflow, reducing strain on the AC system; improves air quality |
Keep outdoor unit (condenser) free of foliage, debris and pests | Monthly/as needed | The indoor unit (air handler) collects heat from inside the property and sends it to the condenser. The condenser coil releases the heat outside. Keeping it free of buildup will allow the heat to be released and the system to run as efficiently as possible. |
Ideally, professional maintenance should be performed twice per year: once in the spring prior to cooling season, and once in the fall prior to heating season. Being proactive about your maintenance may head off larger AC repairs caused by equipment running with dirty coils, dirty filters or low refrigerant levels.
At every AC maintenance visit, we inspect and, if applicable, test the following components:
We will also flush the condensate drain and add pan tabs for prolonged treatment.
In addition to the above, the technician will do following during an AC maintenance visit for your heater/furnace in the fall:
We recommend the following additional AC maintenance service be performed each year, and we include them in our Preventative Maintenance Plan:
If, during the course of a maintenance visit, the technician finds that you do need a repair, they will likely be able to complete it on the spot with your approval. Our trucks are fully stocked, so your technician probably has the required part on hand. If not, you won’t be charged extra for us to get it. Once the repair is complete, we’ll stand behind it – as we do all our repairs – with a one-year warranty on both parts and labor.
We believe in the importance of consistent maintenance, and we significantly discount our plans to encourage it.
